Welcome to Dan's domain. Yes, that's me! I was born on 21st
December 1972 in the beautiful city of Basel in Switzerland. I grew up in the
bustling area of the St. Johann just next to the river rhine. I spent my early
years mostly outside or in front of my beloved Commodore 64 (CFA rulez!). After
finishing my lyceum (I did type b with latin) I entered the Swiss army for some
nice "out-in-the-hills" experience. One year later, I moved to the small town
of St. Gallen to begin my studies.
I had a great student time with a
lot of different activities and experiences. In between, I spent one semester
at the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University) and some more
"out-in-the-hills" experience at the officer school in Chamblon. In 1998 I
graduated from the University of St. Gallen (business administration, economics
and sociology) as a lic.oec.HSG and the same year I finished my CEMS Master at
the graduation ceremony in Vienna.
I spent some time with
Deloitte&Touche Consulting Group before re-entering the University of St.
Gallen for the Ph.D. programme of the Institute of Media and Communication
Management mcm-HSG. During all these years i was working at the Institute of
Sociology sfs-HSG as a research assistant. Then, various assignments as
consultant followed. Last year i've finished my Ph.D. Thesis on Knowledge
Management and Virtual Communities with Prof. Dr. Peter Gross and Prof. Dr.
Georg von Krogh. Since then I'm working full time as a Management Consultant in
a traditional consultancy firm. If you want more details, please turn to my CV

In my spare time I enjoy reading, music, sports, travelling,
going out and meeting friends.There are so many things that make living a
pretty good thing, among all these I'd like at least to mention ocean sailing,
snowboarding and hiking in the Swiss mountains, cuban cigars, my Seiler piano,
red wine, Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings", Gogol's "dead souls", the inspiring
works of Blaise Cendrars, reggae music, drum & bass parties, d'Basler
Fasnacht, dr FCB, Paul&Shark clothes, my daily NZZ newspaper, Illycafe
Espresso, Irish pubs, lomography ...etc...etc.
