The Swiss town of Basel hosts the oldest university in Switzerland, the University of Basel, or short “unibas”. At this premier academic institute, the WWZ is an economics and business powerhouse, with the likes of Prof. Gantenbein, Prof. Berentsen and Prof. Schär teaching there. The latter two are also well known in the Swiss Blockchain ecosystem as the “Blockchain Professors”, one of the very few, Blockchain focused academic professors.
In Dec 2018, the honoris causa doctorate (Dr.h.c.) was awarded to Vitalik Butarin, the famous co-inventor of the Ethereum protocol. In the context of Switzerland and the Swiss Crypto Valley, the Ethereum Foundation, moving from Canada to Zug, Switzerland, played an important role in building and growing our little ecosystem here.
